When Chapter BS, Rupert, Idaho, decided to take over the care of a planter box located at the main entrance into their town, they thought it would be a nice way to promote P.E.O-if the city would allow them to place a sign recognizing P.E.O. at the site. The chapter was given permission from the city to proceed. When Chapter P (the other chapter in Rupert) heard what Chapter BS was planning they offered to help with the project. All was going well until the chapters started looking for a custom-made P.E.O. sign—the signs available were all going to be too expensive. Melle Lee Warren, Chapter BS, recalls, "The day before we were to plant the flowers the May-June issue of The P.E.O. Record arrived and there was the article about the new P.E.O. recognition signs. It was perfect-exactly what we wanted-something discreet yet stating who we are and at a very reasonable price. We are delighted with the sign!"

P.E.O. Sign Welcomes Visitors to Iowa Community

When you enter Harlan, Iowa, on Highway 59 from Interstate 80, be sure for more details. to look for the P.E.O. star!

Two years ago, Julienne Ferry, then president of Chapter AP, Harlan, Iowa, was approached by the chairman of Harlan’s welcome sign project. He wanted to know if the local P.E.O. chapters, AP and PD, would be interested in putting a P.E.O. logo on the new Harlan welcome sign. Julienne contacted then Iowa State P.E.O. president, Joan Kirk, and asked if they could put up a logo sign. The timing was right as P.E.O. had just launched the "It's OK to Talk About P.E.O." campaign. Joan presented the idea to International Chapter; International Chapter approved the project, commissioned a design and had a sign made. Harlan Chapters AP and PD are proud to display the P.E.O. logo on their town's welcome sign!

P.E.O. recognition signs are now available in four sizes. See "To The Point" on page 65 in this issue of The Record for more details.
